Fast Cars

The White Lightening

Demsey's World Record Associates and their recording-holding White Lightening is the world's fastest all -electric race car. Rummerfield set two USA Land Speed Records for an electric car at 239.5 miles per hour and 251.6 miles per hour, achieved at Speed Week, held at the Bonneville Salt Flats Testing Course, Utah by the Southern California Timing Association.

Powered by 6,120 typical "C" size batteries, the Dempsey-built racer is a rocket-shaped performance vehicle. The batteries push an electrical charge through the motor at a force equivalent to ten pounds of plastic explosives!

Rummerfield holdsFIA World Speed Record for an all-electric vehicle, setting a new land speed record of 245.5 mph! Held in Wendover, Utah in October 1999 by the Federation of International Automobiles, Rummerfield significantly shattered the existing record of 215 mph.

"What a ride!" said Pat Rummerfield, the recovering quadriplegic who piloted "White Lightning" to its record 245.5 mph. "The car ran flawlessly! This world record demonstrates the tremendous potential for battery-powered vehicles."

NASCAR

NASCAR race team owner, George deBidart of Busch Grand National Racing (BGN) has invited Rummerfield to come to North Carolina for testing sometime after the season openers (Daytona). deBidart is the co-owner/manager of Innovative Motorsports Inc. Race Team, Car 47, sponsored by Monroe.

Last season George deBidart and Andy Santerre started training Rummerfield to the "dos and don'ts" of NASCAR racing.

"Mr. deBidart is not only a great guy, he is a genius when it comes to sports marketing. I feel very fortunate receiving training from him. My time with deBidart and the Monroe Race Team has been highly educational and a real treat!"

"Andy Santerre is the "real deal". With a friend like Andy offering tips, who couldn't win?" Santerre's critically-honed driving skills helped him win the coveted BGN Raybestos Rookie of the Year award. "The #47 Monroe Race Team is the only one to watch." says Rummerfield.

Superkarts! USA

Driving the "pace kart" at SuperKarts! USA held in Las Vegas, Nevada in November 1998, Rummerfield impressed the crowd after driving the "hair-pen" course, exiting the kart and announced his quadriplegic status.

Interviewed by Paul Higgins of Athletes in Motion at the race, Rummerfield's interview has been broadcasted on ESPN and ESPN2 several times worldwide.

Rummerfield was also interviewed by David Adler, publisher of Pantera International magazine for Pantera sport car enthusiasts. Read a very in-depth article on Rummerfield in the Winter 1998 issue.
